It was the middle of the night and the club was on fire in the metaphorical sense. Bodies writhed to loud music, sweat plastered hair to faces, and guys spent more money than they should getting girls to drink. The air was alive with energy, some of it supernatural and some of it not. Skython was a magical place to those who knew how to look for it. That woman there, with the dark hair? See the way she moves, the way her nostrils flair? Vampire. And that one…See how bestial he looks? Werewolf. If you knew what to look for and had a keen eye, it wasn’t too hard to figure out.
And then there was Roach. Eyes turned to stare as a devilishly elegant woman entered the Carnal Kiss. She looked like someone straight out of a movie, or a really good book. Her silky brown hair fell down to her swaying hips, her lips were innocently pink and easily kissable. Dark eyes somehow seemed to glimmer with color as she scanned the room. She wore floor length green dress, with off the shoulder sleeves, the top decorated with beaded vines, the fabric slowly fading from solid to sheer and back again in all the right places.
Humans would be awed by her presence. Supernatural creatures would not be surprised to find that the woman was actually an elf. She looked as though she were born of the wilderness. She had a raw, feral innocence. The surprising thing, though, was that she was not in control of her body. Roach was a ghost. That night, he’d chosen to wear the body of this wild beauty. There was no fight, she’d let him. They had a pact. She was fascinated by the experience. And he liked using her body to hit on guys.
So there he was at Carnal Kiss. He’d never been there before. Apparently it was owned by a vampire…Zoey? Something like that. It didn’t matter. He was just there to have fun, and maybe pick up on a few guys. Roach smiled his borrowed smile and slowly made his way to the bar, making sure to catch a few eyes as he did so. He refrained from winking, trying hard to play off of the elf’s innocent face. It was important. If one is beautiful, one must also appear approachable…Though he supposed it didn’t matter much if the guys were drunk.

Reid tended bar for his sister most nights she offered to pay him but he waved it off saying that since she had bought the farm house for his crusade the least he could do was continue to tend bar for her. The changes Zoey had implemented on the club had changed it from a go-go place to an actual club. He could see the withering bodies on the floor and smell the sweat from the humans and creatures that swayed and rubbed.
“Reid!"
He sighed, there was Anna, Zoey hired her as a favor to Reid, she was a charity case to say the least. She was a horrible server and she couldn’t tend bar till she had proved herself on the floor. She tended to end up with more on herself then she did at her tables. She was how Reid usually ended up half naked by the end of the night since she insisted on wearing white tops. He pulled off his own black t-shirt pulling it over her head and arms.
“Turn around.”
Anna did as she was told. Reid quickly and deftly folded the shirt up to show a glimmer of skin the tired it in the back to make the shirt fit the much smaller server.
“From now on Anna, no more white. Go get that table’s order.”
Reid frowned and shook his head as Anna smiled and kissed his cheek. He could hear the cat calls and whistles from the other bartenders as he went back to the bar.
“Yeah, yeah, shut up and work.”
Being the only male working the bar had it’s disadvantages. Women could be the worst when it came to harassing men at clubs, especially good looking men. He pushed it off normally, he was pretty when he was human, but now he was fairly certain that the reason most were attracted to him was not his pretty face but his hunter’s camouflage. Turning back he groaned, Laura was here.
Laura Wisner was a human that wanted nothing more then to be a vampire. Reid was fairly certain she stalked him. Laura wanted to be his first sired even though he had explained numerous times that he didn’t feed off humans, hence his honey colored eyes, and even if he did he wasn’t interested in turning anyone especially not a married, 35-year-old, mother of two, who was nothing more then a bored house wife who didn’t get enough attention from her husband.
“Yes Laura, what can I get you tonight?”
“You know what I want Reidee. Till I can get that, I’ll take a vodka tonic. Your looking especially strong tonight. Feed on a human?”
“No Laura, I don’t feed on humans, you know that. Vodka Tonic.”
“I’d let you, you know. I wouldn’t scream or anything. I’d make it so easy for you.”
Reid gripped the bar, the sound of wood cracking could be heard by any supernatural being. What he wouldn’t give for a distraction. He hadn’t feed recently and he could feel the venom filling his mouth making it water at the idea.

Roach turned at the sound of the voice. The woman sounded..desperate. Skank. That was the first thing he thought. And then he heard the last part of her words. She wasn’t talking about sex at all, it seemed. Way to be obvious. Then again, the best place to tell secrets was in the middle of a large crowd. Nobody was paying an ounce of attention to their conversation. Roach, of course, was the exception.
He’d never believed in that little piece of wisdom anyway. He frequently listened in on bar conversations. Wasn’t that enough proof that crowds were not the best place to tell secrets? It was a stupid saying. He didn’t mind though. It gave him an endless source of entertainment on weekends. Bars had the best stories. And hey, Roach was nosy. He needed something to entertain him. Immortality could get quite boring if one did not know how to have fun. Constant, everlasting fun. Thank goodness for human stupidity, eh? Roach was a mischievous little thing. He absolutely adored getting in (and out) of trouble.
The sound of crunching wood brought the ghost out of his thoughts and into the present. He actually felt sort of bad for the vampire. It must be annoying to be thrown into the world of Desperate Housewives. Perhaps he should save the man. What was his name? Reidee? No, that was one of those stupid girlish nicknames. He was going to go with Reid. The ghost put on his most sweetest, innocent smile and sidled up to the man. His borrowed Elvish body made everyone around follow his movements, some with awe and some with jealousy.
“Reid!” his body said. The voice was feminine and soft. ”I’ve been looking for you. Hope you don’t mind my dropping by. I know you’re at work and all, but it’s so hard to stay away from you now.” He added a shy giggle. Somehow that seemed to complete the picture. ”I still need to pay you back for saving me. It’s amazing how brave you are…You must cherish life quite a lot to care enough to save a complete stranger.” Roach was speaking out of his ass, but hopefully it worked. Either way, Roach was good at being distracting so he could make it work.

Laura was grating on Reid’s last nerve. He felt a hand on his shoulder. Glancing her saw Anna with a sympathetic look on her face and a metal bottle in her hand. It surprised him for her to be so observant that he was in desperate need of a feeding. He smiled as reached for container when he heard his name. Turning his head he saw the enchanting elf to Laura’s right. He raised an eyebrow at the elf as she gushed about him saving her. He took in her appearance and smell, there was something off about this elf. Something that made Reid innately curious about her.
“Not a problem sweetheart. Anytime I can help.”
Reid gave her a slow grin. His warm honey eyes giving a twinkle. Reid could see Laura get confused and then annoyed. All it would take was a little more of a push.
“Besides helping someone as beautiful as you makes being a knight on a bike easy.”
Reid let out the a sigh of relief as Laura left. He grinned at the elf taking the container from Anna shooing her back to work.
“Thanks, Laura’s a sweet kid, she’s just a bit lonely. Thinks immortality is that answer to her problems.”
Reid was good looking in that boy next door, who could charm any girl or guy in his bed but didn’t. He had blond hair with what was once aqua eyes that had gone honey since he had never fed on a living creature. His Levi’s hung low on his hips and his normal kicks of Nike sneakers squeaked on the floor. He drank deep of the blood/beer mixture. Setting the container behind him he tossed the towel over her naked shoulder. Before turning back to elf. Giving the elf a warm smile he spoke offering his hand,
“Reid Alexander Blake, what can I get my heroine, this round is on the house, next is on me.”

Roach bit his lip and added another shy giggle for effect, completely ignoring the other girl. He could feel her annoyance. Humans were complicated creatures. Complicated on a deep, inward level. When it came to predictability and manipulation, however, they were fairly simple. Just a nice, quick game of I’m-getting-more-attention-than-you and the fight or flight response is induced. However, this woman obviously did not have enough claim over this man to fight because with a little more push from him she promptly chose the flight response.
He smirked playfully when his body was called ‘beautiful,’ momentarily abandoning his feigned innocence for something a little more mischievous. It was a very slight, very quick show of his inner knavishness. His eyes flicked curiously to the container in the vampire’s hands, but his gaze did not linger. The container didn’t interest him much aside from a mild inquisitiveness that Roach felt towards nearly everything. He was more interested in the words that Reid was speaking. Immortality, a cure for loneliness? That made him laugh. This time it wasn’t a shy laugh but an understanding, dry one.
“Reid Alexander Blake, what can I get my heroine, this round is on the house, next is on me.”
Oh? It seemed the man was a gentleman. How very nice. ”It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Sir. My name is Rose…” Roach trailed off a little. He actually couldn’t remember the elf’s last name and he didn’t want to make one up just in case he ran into someone she knew. So…Just Rose was fine. ”I’ll take whatever it is you’re drinking. Unless, of course, your drink wouldn’t be palatable to a…vegetarian. In that case, I’ll take a strawberry daiquiri.”
Her eyes had an amused shine to them as he spoke. He had a feeling there was blood in that container, but didn’t know for sure. This way he would feed his curiosity and get a drink out of it. Roach wasn’t really all that into sweet drinks, but it seemed like something Rose would like. That was an interesting thing about possession. He could perceive things the way she did, taste what she tasted. It wouldn’t make him like her drink necessarily, but it would make him want it in an odd sort of way. It would feel right to him.
