The Rules « Thread Started on May 4, 2008, 7:41pm »
Of course there are rules. This forum is sponsered by Proboards and they require that the following are to be obeyed.
Some of you might be wondering: "Can I have more than one character?" The answer is, "Yes." However, you may only have one character per account. If you want to make another character, you'll have to make another account. The limit, for now, of characters you can have are three. If you want more than that, PM me first and we'll chat. This does not include NCP's (Non-Playable Characters). NPC's are characters you may include in your threads and CS's. They are not set as a main character.
Before, I list the rules, no one is allowed to use Dracula, Lestat or any other famous vampire as their character. These infamous vampires are considered Non-Playable. If I see that you are using one of their names, I will ask you to change it. If you don't, I will change it for you. For instance, Stuart Townsend in the form of Lestat is strictly off limits (as he is the face of Lestat on this site). Let's say you want Tom Cruise to portray your character. Any referance to him being Lestat or pictures of him from Interview with the Vampire is also off limits.
ALL CONTENT MUST BE PG-13 APPROPRIATE: Meaning that this site will not tolerate strong sexual content, drug or alcohol incouragment and so on and do forth. I personally don't care about this (as long as it doesn't go too far), but SuddenLaunch hoever does and I must respect their wishes. This also means (and I agree with this completely) that there are to be no racial offenses. For that matter, anything offensive is not allowed. If you want to be a part of this site, this rule must be followed.
This site is for those of the age of thirteen and up. All pornography (of any shape or form) is not acceptable.
The Motion Picture Association of America defines PG-13 as:
"A PG-13 rating is a sterner warning by the Rating Board to parents to determine whether their children under age 13 should view the motion picture, as some material might not be suited for them. A PG-13 motion picture may go beyond the PG rating in theme, violence, nudity, sensuality, language, adult activities or other elements, but does not reach the restricted R category. The theme of the motion picture by itself will not result in a rating greater than PG-13, although depictions of activities related to a mature theme may result in a restricted rating for the motion picture. Any drug use will initially require at least a PG-13 rating. More than brief nudity will require at least a PG-13 rating, but such nudity in a PG-13 rated motion picture generally will not be sexually oriented. There may be depictions of violence in a PG-13 movie, but generally not both realistic and extreme or persistent violence. A motion picture’s single use of one of the harsher sexually-derived words, though only as an expletive, initially requires at least a PG-13 rating. More than one such expletive requires an R rating, as must even one of those words used in a sexual context. The Rating Board nevertheless may rate such a motion picture PG-13 if, based on a special vote by a two-thirds majority, the Raters feel that most American parents would believe that a PG-13 rating is appropriate because of the context or manner in which the words are used or because the use of those words in the motion picture is inconspicuous."
NO LEGAL OFFENCES: Self-explanitory. Basically, don't do or say anything on here that would be marked as illegal.
NO OOC/IC CROSSING: OOC stands for Out Of Character and IC obviously stands for In Character. This means that in the places marked "OOC" do not be IC and vice versa.
NO POWER PLAYING: This means that when siring (see siring rules first) you cannot force the "human" to accept your intentions. Everyone has the right to say No. No Power-Playing also means also means that you are not to make your character superior to others. It doesn't matter how many posts you have going for you, saying that you hold a place of power in the city when you don't is not allowed. Making your character greater and more advanced than they really are is also cause for a warning.
People become very humbled when warnings are issued because of the "dominance" concept. This is a game, not a power battle. No species is greater than another. No one person is ever going to suddenly take over the city by force or pressure. The city is already owned and places are issued by the owener.
Entitlement issues become very annoying very quickly, so just make sure your character is kept in check.
Even if your character does become powerful, toning down the "I'm better than you" idea is expected. If your character's personality just happens to be arrogant or power-hungry, make sure you're not putting others down constantly in vain, or it's grounds for a warning.
Don't come on here and pretend that you're more powerful than you really are. Every member starts as a "mortal" and eventually works their way up to a greater being, but it's expected that you don't throw it in everyone's face.
You will gain a new power with a certain number of posts.
NO ADVERTISING. Since this site isn't allowing ads (maybe in the future, but for now it's a no), I also extend this rule to the C-Box (Chat Box). Naturally, all of the other rules apply in the C-Box below as well as the entire site.
NO SPAMMING. This one is pretty clear. Spamming on this site is forbidden. Whether it's in the IC section, the OOC section, or the C-Box, it's a no, no.

SIRING:
This means that you will be taking on a new member and teaching them the ways of the vampire in the siring thread (coming soon). Each member starts out as a human and posts in this board. A sire (who must be deemed one before he/she can act. See the list below for the sires.) is the one who will take on the human and be their guide as well as father or mother. That person will become a part of the sire's Clan (also coming soon). Each sire is responsible for his/her childe.
Q&A:
How do I become a sire? You must have three powers in order to sire (meaning 280 posts, at least)
Can my sire and I be lovers or become bound to one another? Yes. Absolutely.
Can I leave my sire/childe and begin a new thread? No. Once you have a chosen or accepted a sire/childe, you cannot turn around and want another (unless there is a serious reason to back it up, if so, tell me before you do anything). Choose wisely.
What is a clan? Clan is basically a new tree branch on the tree of the bloodline. Say you're in Bloodline X (non-existant, obviously. For demonstration purposes only) and want to start an off shoot of X, so you ask to make Clan Y.
Who are the sires? See the list of sires in the Brink of Darkness board
BONDING:
Bonding simply means marriage. You and your partner can marry once BOTH of you have reached 350 posts.
Can we have children? No. Sadly, vampires cannot concieve.
Can I bond with another childer of my sire? Yes. There's no "blood" relation, so no need to worry.
Can my partner and I divorce? Yes, but I do not encourage it.

You MUST have a signature as well as an avatar.
Your signature must include at least one picture of your character, your character's name and anything else you want us to know.
People who rp with you want to know what your character looks like.
Follow the rules (especially the one about everything remained PG-13. This is Proboards's requirement, therefore, we all must obey it.)
I am not a great sig maker, but hopefully, as this site develops we'll have some talented members who know how to make one. You can ask me, if you like, but don't expect a true work of art.
Coding:
If you want clickable links for viewing pictures. This is the code (without the spaces):
[ url=URL LINK HERE]TITLE HERE[ /url]
Any problems? Feel free to PM me for help.
How to Become a Staff Member
To become a staff member, the administrator (yours truly) must invite you. What I look for is someone who is not only loyal to the site, but is respectful of the other administration, members and rules. You also have to be active. If you're not active, then what's the point?
Staff members are people who are here to help and guide other members. They assist with coding, advertising, coming up with new and fresh ideas, keeping the peace, ect.
Moderators keep a watch on things and are a form of staff member. They have the ability to, for lack of a better word, moderate the board, or boards, they're asigned.
It doesn't matter if you are the first member to join the site or the millionth. You can always qualify to join the administration and staff.

Chat Box Rules
The rules in the c-box are identical to those of the rules of the site itself. But to get into detail, as it is the more public area of Skython, I'm going to expand on these details.
First thing's first.. All content must be PG-13 approproate. Anything having to do with the use of drugs, alcohol, violence or sex is NOT allowed. Pornography links are strictly forbidden.
--If you're making a referance to drugs (i.e.: "I think they we're all stoned.") it will probably go over-looked. However if you say something along the lines of using or promoting of drugs, you will be getting a PM promptly.
--Same thing applies to alcohol.
--Violence: There is to be NO talk about hurting anyone or yourself here. If you have something personal going on in your life, please talk about it over a Private Message with someone. Talking about hurting anyone else is strictly forbidden.
--Sex: Obviously there is to be no explicit speach within the c-box. That would be considered pornography, which is not allowed.
--Fighting: If you're having an argument with another member, take it to PM. No one else really wants to be involved. And if they do, you can have a PM frenzy.
NO ADVERTISING
There is to be no links of other sites on the c-box, this also means no saying, 'join' such and such site, or 'come onto' such and such site. I am also going to say that you may not post any type of links on the c-box, unless it has to do with some type of thread on here, for the role plays, no links from any of the Out Of Character boards.
NO SPAMMING
Just like the rules says: Do Not Spam the Chat Box
Linking
Linking to sites like youtube.com or photobucket.com are fine. Linking to other roleplay forums or sites you are trying to advertise however is not allowed. So post all the videos and pics you want, as long as they're tasteful.

Re-Banning Rule
If you have been banned and think it's a good idea to find a way to get back into the site and you're discovered, you will be re-banned. No discussion. This rule goes especially for such an individual who is causing the same problems as they were before their original ban.
Second chances are the second and third warning.
Once you have 3 warnings, you will either be on probation or banned depending on the nature of your warnings.
If you have been banned before and have not been invited to come back, there are no warnings. You will just be banned.
Creative Board Rules
No Requesting Sigs/Avies for other sites
All sigs and avatars requested are only for this site. If you really want someone to make you something for another site, do it over PM and understand that the siggy makers are very busy and usually only have time for the requests they recieve for the site they're on.
Be Respectful
Remember that someone took time out of their lives to make something for you, so do show your appreciation.
